Also known as the Stella Octangula or Merkaba, it is comprised of two interlocking regular tetrahedra, pyramids intersecting perfectly to create an eight pointed star in three dimensions.  This was initially created out of foam core and later I generated a CAD file and laser cut all pieces with the exception of the core, the regular octahedron, which was precisely cut on a table saw to ensure perfectly flush angles for proper adhesion with solvent.
